Birth & Life in Chicago

When he returned from France, Walt worked in advertising for local magazines & theaters in Kansas City, until 1922 when he opened his first film studio known as Laugh-O-Gram. This original studio sadly could not sustain itself financially, và it closed within the following year.

In 1923, Walt moved khổng lồ Hollywood where he reunited with his brother Roy who had already moved west. Once the two were together again, they created the Disney Brothers Studio, & the Walt Disney Company was born (and celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2023!)

The early years of the company saw the creation of Walt’s first major character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

Disney would later thua the rights, rendering the character unusable in new nội dung until the company regained rights in 2006.

Mickey Mouse debuted in 1928, with Walt performing the voicework of the world’s most iconic mouse until 1946. He led the way for increasing interest in animated films in general through the creation of works like Snow White và the Seven Dwarfs (1937), the first full-length animated feature lớn the experimental style of Fantasia (1940).

From there, WED Enterprises was founded in 1952, and Walt opened Disneyland in 1955. Throughout the early 1960s, Walt continued managing the company’s film projects while working on plans for the “Florida Project,” or Disney World, including the original concepts for EPCOT as a planned city. Và this list only scratches the surface of Walt’s accomplishments throughout his life.

Walt Disney sadly passed away due khổng lồ lung cancer in 1966. As plans moved forward for Disney’s second Resort, Roy O. Disney continued working on his brother’s dream, dedicating Walt Disney World on October 1, 1971…and the rest is history!
